This combo kit includes 4mm plate foam, 2mm case foam with hotswap cutouts and 2 round 10mm plugs to fill the holes where the feet screw in.
Installation requires taking the board apart, putting the plate foam inside, slipping the PCB back into place GENTLY, putting the case foam on the PCB, putting the 'acrylic' (plastic) diffuser back into place, press all of the plastic plugs in tightly to hold everything together and then screw the top half to the bottom half.
These foams are designed to fit the CTRL - a keyboard designed and produced by DROP (previously Massdrop).
Please take note that there are currently two versions of the High Profile variant of the CTRL in circulation. We're still working on finalizing the design for the newer revision of the High Profile as well as the Low Profile variant but you can already sign up to be notified once they are available.
You did have to make a slight adjustment to the thicker plate pcb layer to get it to fit correctly.
Purchased for my OG Drop CTRL HP. Fits like a glove and the ping is non-existent! Great product!
Massdrop CTRL Foam Combo
As Patrick Montero also mentioned, I had to cut the foam to make it fit between the plate and the pcb so that everything would fit properly but the end result is a MASSIVE difference in sound. No more PINGing every time I press a key harder than normal. Now I did purchase the older version so hopefully the newer version will fit even better and you won't have to cut any foam.
Bought for the Pulse HiPro CTRL. I had to make some modifications for the plate foam, cutting in certain spots to make the LEDs under the acrylic layer visible. But what a difference in sound and fullness!
Highly advise to flatten the foam (both pieces) under heavy books for a LONG period of time or you will have difficulty fitting the plate foam in, then the acrylic layer in.
Also slightly concerned the foam is too thick to allow for the switch-top openings to be utilized, but it’s a hotswap board anyway, so it’s not that big of a deal.
As for the case foam, it is flawless. I would advise maybe putting in some extra foam in the depression (ha, sounds like me) in the back panel, maybe some sorbothane but don’t go crazy. This EVA MKultra foam is going to be a part of my builds going forward.
I still had to cut a lot of the foam just to make if fit on the bottom of the pcb between and the led diffuser to make it fit and sit correctly. Not something you should have to do if it’s pre cut... took about 45 mins of cutting and fiddling with it to make it sit flush but even after the diffuser is flush to the top of case and pcb the foam is bowing out toward the middle of the diffuser. Will be adding neoprene additional to this as there is still space between the middle of the diffuser and the bottom of the case at least 1/8” or more. Also it took over a month to get to me and they didn’t actually ship it to me till 3-4 week after my order.
