This combo kit includes 4mm plate foam and 2mm case foam with hotswap cutouts.
Installation requires taking the board apart, putting the plate foam inside, slipping the PCB back into place GENTLY, putting the case foam on the PCB, putting the 'acrylic' (plastic) diffuser back into place, press all of the plastic plugs in tightly to hold everything together and then screw the top half to the bottom half.
These foams are designed to fit the ALT LOW PROFILE - a keyboard designed and produced by DROP (previously Massdrop).
Small note: Drop has recently added a brace to the ALT. To account for this divider there is a scored a line in the foam for you to cut along if your ALT happens to have this divider.
Just had to mod the foam a bit for the space bar on the drop alt Hight profile. She fit nice and snug. Wonderful product will definitely recommend to anyone looking.
The foam is effective, however, the fit was imperfect for my unit. I assume the foam was designed for the previous "Massdrop" version as opposed to the new and revised "Drop" version, which is what I have. The cutouts for the stabilizers are different (especially the spacebar) as well as the cutouts for the LED diffuser. Besides that, the product works effectively and significantly reduces case ping, which was very apparent prior to application.
Took out all of the ping from my Drop Alt High Profile case. It’s a nice tight fit and makes typing much more enjoyable. There’s one cut you have to make and the foam is already outlined perfectly which made it incredibly easy. Highly recommended!
I took a bit of a gamble purchasing this for the high profile variant of the ALT, knowing that I would have to make modifications. I cut a small amount off of both sides of the middle layer of foam and it was done. Perfect fit, and it sounds incredible. There is a very slight gap by the diffusion layer now, which may be a result of the foam but also may be user error on my part during reassembly. I haven’t felt the need to disassemble and reassemble until i get some upgraded case screws, but i suspect that the foam is pushing the layers apart ever so slightly. Note that i have it, I can’t imagine using the board without the foam.
I ended up using the foam for my high-profile build and it work amazing. All I had to do was cut some extra off.
foam fit perfectly!
